I tend to shoot a lot of portraits wide. The results aren't especially flattering but I feel it draws the viewer in closer, making it more intimate and expressive. This one of Elise was shot during the evening "golden hour." I used an on-camera speedlight cranked down to 1/128 to balance out the side-lighting. The leading lines and natural vignetting further pull in the viewer. My biggest regret is chopping off her right hand a bit. I also wish I had put a CTO gel on my flash.
